    Lads,
Having the week from hell. My car was crashed into on Monday. Today I was notified its been wrote off as its beyond economical repair ( 2005 bmw ).

The insurance company of the car that hit mine still have not come back admitting liability.
As it stands its going through my own insurance .

Today I got a call from an awful ignorant English company who offered me a value which I believe is far far too low. I absolutely cannot replace my car like for like with that figure. I told them to go and shove it. I sent on dozens of done deal adds backing up my claim and they keep ruling them out saying diff model etc.

Have I any rights here? Can I do anything ? Why am.I going to be left with a car not as good as what I had last week because some truck decided to hit me ! What's the point in fully comp !

Done Deal and Buy & Sell adverts do not represent market value as everybody accepts that they are opening offers and the seller is prepared to accept less. You need to get written quotes from recognised dealers for cash purchases. Either that or engage your own engineer to negotiate with theirs.

Best advice I can give you though is to lose the attitude and engage with your insurers

You would have attitude if you had the week i had. A partner at home off work in pain since it happened. Money being paid out left right and centre. Having to chase both insuarances to get even the very basic information such as how do I make a claim. And then to have some patronising little ****e tell me i don't know the value of my own car.

Consider engaging a your own loss adjuster, will be self financing.

Persistence is key, I had the same issue in the past and about 3 months later we eventually agreed a valuation. Tell them you want their final offer in writing and that you will be going to the ombudsman.

Well keep ranting at them if it makes you feel better but you won't get them to change their offer unless you present them with detail to conflict their valuation, either from an Engineer or through an Assessor, as others have suggested

If I'm right with who I think you've been talking to, have a look at this thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056474693

Raise a complaint with your insurer and they should take it back in house. If enough people complain then eventually they should stop outsourcing this to the UK where people have no idea about the Irish Market.
