    Hi there,

I'll need a portable seat for traveling and visiting. Can anyone recommend one? Which type is easy to use and lug about? One that attaches to the table vs a booster seat? Does it need a wee table for the baby? Where did you buy it? Any other tips or advice are welcome! Bubs will be a year when we need it.

    Thanks!

Also, any recommendations for a travel crib? Thanks!

We used to use a kind of cloth strap seat. It attached to the back of a regular chair so I guess it was more of a way of strapping a kid into a regular chair. It was grand for travelling though. It didn't have a tray/table but that was never really an issue.

Aldi had some the other week - a booster that also stored food! Travel cot....what age? A fold up play pen could go in the boot.

Phil and teds do a "lobster chair".

We have this fisher price travel booster and I love it! Sooo sturdy. I prefer a tray for the baby tbh.

We have used the strokke one when put for lunch and I don't like them at all.

This is the one that was in Aldi. We have it at home and it's very good:

we have the chicco pocket seat that has a tray and attaches to chairs. We got that in smyths.

We also have a phil and teds travel cot, it's just over 3kgs from memory and easily fits into a larger suitcase - http://www.bellababy.ie/traveller-travel-cot---black-p-112.html

we've taken this to Italy and it will be packed into our bag for our big trip home to NZ in december.

Do you really need a travel cot? We have a Mothercare one that we have permanently set up in the sitting room (mostly just for storing his toys) and one that I think we got in Argos to leave at my parents house. They are both quite heavy and bulky even when folded, and the main disadvantage is that the mattresses that come with them are very thin and hard - you really need to either buy a proper mattress or else line it with plenty of bedding, so either way they're not readily transportable really. I'd suggest either co-sleeping, or even just put him straight onto a quilt/mattress on the floor. By the way if it's a hotel you're staying in, most will supply a travel cot - just ask in advance. Personally I don't think it's worth investing in one - but if you do, look for secondhand - there are plenty of them barely used knocking around!

We use this as a play pen and a travel cot. Pretty perfect. £35, can't really go wrong.

I agree with the poster above, you need your own mattress too which kind of defeats the travel part.

Thanks for all the replies! And the links.

Hubs is convinced that the lobster table clamp style will fall off, despite my protests. So at least that narrows the search. I'll check your suggestions.

We had a trial run away at the weekend in both a friend's house and a hotel. Both times I made up a bed on the floor for him beside our bed, which I ended up sleeping on myself by morning as he was unsettled. So we can do that but I think I'd like to try a travel cot that he might at least get a bit familiar with and hopefully sleep a bit better. The mattress issue kind of sucks though.

    Cheers!
