Scenic Rear Electrical Window Fault

Bought a Renault Scenic 05 about a year ago, even though I was warned off by a few due to electrical problems.

Bought it anyway and didnt have a problem til last week. The cars rear left window decided to roll down by itself when the engine was turned off. Trying to roll them up by the buttons did nothing and the window remained down.

Now thankfully it automaticly rolled back up by itself when I was half way home.

But the problem has happened again and this time the window remains down.

Its an ongoing problem appartently with Scenics from 03-09 and if under warranty Renault will fix it. How ever mines well out of warranty and they quoted me a ridiculous sum.

Ive looked online and trried removing fuses to no avail.

    Any one had similar problems?

Very common I'm afraid, most likely a failed regulator, the good news is there are people who will sort you out for a fraction of Renault prices.

This chap is great and has down countless Renaults, not sure if he is still operating though?

Usually it's the Temic module (the matchbox sized black box on top of the motor). Over the years I've had various windows fail and simply removing the plug & cover sleeve from the end of the module and spraying a good dose of WD40 into it has always sorted it out for me.

When you disconnect & reconnect the power to a window it will only move about 50mm at a time so you will need to teach the module where the window's closed position is. This is simply done by turning on the ignition, keep inching the window button up until the window is closed then hold the button up for about 10 secs. The windows should then open and close fully.
