The idea is that it is a "backwards EPG", that you will be able to go backwards in the EPG and play programmes.

UPC's sister company in Switzerland, Cablecom offers such a service. Seems to only work with certain SRF, ARD, ZDF, and ORF channels. You can replay certain programmes for 30 hours. With some subscription levels you can do so for 7 days.

No doubt it will be introduced in January to coincide with the next price rise, or at least to coincide with a future price rise :)

Do Sky already offer a similar service?

    Nope.

But really to me it's just catchup TV done with a different interface. (It has the potential to be so much more - with the right system you could record every channel and offer every programme for seven days - but two things stand in the way - resources and rights)

Catchup TV is something that greatly separates Sky and UPC. Only the TV3 Player and a very small selection of Sky content is common to both. UPC has players for RTE, TG4, Eurosport, Discovery and MGM while on Sky you'll find Sky (obviously!), All4, and UKTV.

I was thinking of the Sky movies restart live movies system that they are bring in. It's already offered in Germany. So much more offerd on Sky 1,000 plus movies from Sky movies and all the Sky Atlantic content. While it may be a great system on UPC I don't see it working on any Sky channels. Rte, tv3 utvi etc would be my guess.

Freesat does on their newer boxes for some channels.
In effect it is just a link to play stuff from the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All4 and Demand 5 apps which are already installed on the Freesat box.

Little bit off topic but did anyone see sky on demand section on upc now has sky entertainment, sports and full movies section

Was just gonna post that. Need to be a sky movies or sky sports subscriber to view the relevant stuff but it's nice to see it. Also noticed it's been growing over the last week. Look like they are building the service as it's still relatively buried in the catalogue.

The Sky Movies section at any rate has been there quite a while, though last time I looked it was a pale shadow of what is available to Sky Digital customers.

It was indeed but now its expanded out into different sections and, at a guess, there at least a couple hundred titles as opposed to a half dozen or so a week ago.

Looks like they're the only ones. I tried Horizon Go the other day and only six channels worked. Seems at odds with their "use it anywhere" campaign.

It's been 6 months now has any heard of any new channels becoming available on replay and start over tv

Or fast forwarding? Not being able to control playback makes replay on Virgin pointless.

You can skip the Ads on Vodafone's Restart and 7 day catch up TV. I think they have about 50+ channel with Restart but its not on every single show.
