    Hi,

Looking for a recommendation on a broker - situation is I am 35 and moved around a lot/travelled etc. Not been on any car insurance for years but held a full licence since 17. Drove lots (prob 5000kms per year ave) on rental cars with no accidents/points etc - but wont count for anything..

Looking to buy a decent car now (2l + - and finding it hard to get a sensible quote for insurance - any recommendations on brokers that could help with this? or am I screwed and will need to buy a 1l micra!

    D

Was in a similar situation earlier this year. Shopped high and low and KennCo was the best by far (40%) to the next best quote. That being said, still over a thousand for a 1.4 Golf!

Worth a try, I think there is some deal done with insurers for people in your situation:

No joy - but thanks - FYI for anyone else - they help people who have had company car experience

The problem you have is that you have a full licence since you are 17 but cannot prove driving history or experience. That is a massive alarm bell for insurance companies.

Reason being, it was and is common place for particular societal groups to ring up to try and get quotes, say they have a full licence but they had been in "England" for the last 6 months so dont have a bonus.

Said groups got the policy under false pretenses then surprisingly they ended up rear ending someone on a round about and it costs the company a ball of money!

Unfortunately there is no cheap way to get around it for you. Try Chill, explain the story, buy a cheap 1l motor and get one years bonus built up and you will be laughing.
