Hi - not sure what forum is best for this.

I'm trying t convert a word doc to Pdf - however it is creating two pdf files instead of just one - like the word doc.

Pages 1 - 10 are in roman numerals. Pages 11 - 50 are in regular numbers. THi seems to be the cause of the two pdf docs.

    Please help!

There must be section break after the Roman numerals that is causing the issue maybe. What are you using to convert to pdf?

    Hi Mordeith

    Thanks for the reply!
Yes - there is a section break after the Roman numerals - I had to do this to start Arabic numerals in the next section to conform with Thesis formatting.

I'm using word on a mac and just saving as and selecting pdf.

    Thanks!

Instead of Save As try Print and select PDF as printer. Might work.

Thanks Mordeith. i wasn't sure how to do that.
However, I found a way; via preview the two documents then save as pdf.

"Open the two pdfs in preview and then you can print them as one
you have to open them at the same time, highlight both, right click, open"

    Thanks again!

I'm trying to generate a PDF from a Word doc, which I have done many times in the past, except now I get the following error message
'The export failed due to an unexpected error'. I using Windows10.
Any ideas on how to resolve the problem?

Probably could have started a new thread...

But, what version of Word are you using? It should just be a case of file - export or file - save as.

Is there any more text or code in the error message?

Hi, I'm using Word 2010. It worked fine till a few weeks ago, using 'Save as' and selecting PDF from the 'Save As' dropdown menu.
Thats the full error message I get.
    Cheers.

    Odd.

    Found this, hope it works!

    http://wordribbon.tips.net/T011430_Problems_Saving_as_PDF.html
Louise has a system that has the Academic Professional version of Office 2010 installed. She has a problem generating a PDF file from within Word. When she goes to save a document, there are options concerning the format in which the document can be saved. When she chooses "save as PDF," she gets an error message: "Export failed due to unexpected error."
Several readers suggested that this isn't a Word problem, but instead is a problem with some Windows drivers. For them, the problem was fixed when they updated Windows as described in this Knowledge Base article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639417
Note that nothing in the article says anything about generating PDF files. Instead, it appears that the update takes care of modifying the drivers responsible for creating the PDF files, and this modification fixes the problem exhibited in Word.
If that doesn't work for some reason, you should try using an alternative method of creating your PDF file:
    Click the File tab.
At the left side of the screen click Save & Send. (Don't click Save; look down further on the left side and make sure you actually click on the Save & Send option.) Word presents you with some more options.
Click Create PDF/XPS Document. Word displays a single button at the right side of the dialog box.
Click the Create PDF/XPS button. Word displays the Publish as PDF or XPS dialog box. This dialog box looks very similar to a traditional Open dialog box.
Specify a filename you want used for your PDF file.
    Click on Publish.
