Hi all, my daughter is just about to start driving so I was just wondering what's the best way to do these lessons...?
Would she be better off buying them one at a time or buying a package with the whole twelve in one go, and would you normally get a discount for doing it like this...? Also any idea what the going rate is for lessons (as a package) or individually and what sort of pace should she be looking at to complete these lessons 'from zero to hero'...?
Would one lesson a week be usual or would there be any benefit in doing one every few days as something do do during the summer holidays..?

    Any advice accepted thanks.

    I've paid €35 - €40 per lesson.

She can buy a block of lessons or take one at a time - it's up to her. Although the EDT documentation recommends that you get 3 hours' practice in between lessons with a nominated sponsor (who has to be a fully qualified driver)

Whether she takes lessons or practices in between ideally she should try to drive every few days rather than waiting a week in between. Helps to consolidate what you've learned in my experience

Prices vary with different instructors - I never heard of any being under €25 or over €40. I'd recommend that she pays per lesson rather than in full, unless she is 100% sure that she is going to stick with that instructor for the 12 lessons.

As for the lessons, I'd say to do them once a week and to get plenty of practise in between lessons. Remember, she cant do her test until she has her provisional for 6 months.

Thanks to all who replied, good idea to see how she gets on with one particular instructor before committing to the full package of twelve lessons....

I charge individual lessons at €30 and do a discounted rate of €300 for the full EDT package of 12 lessons.
If a client decides to discontinue for any reason, I offer them a refund on any unused lessons but charge delivered lessons at the individual rate.

If you're an Aviva policy holder you can add your daughter to your policy. €400 for 10 lessons + 6 months free accompanied insurance for your daughter, or €499 for 13 lessons + 6 months free accompanied insurance. This is a great way of allowing practice in between lessons. At the beginning my instructor suggested leaving 2 weeks between lessons to allow for practice, and getting used to driving but as you progress one a week is usually the norm.
