Hey, just looking for some quick advice. I'm ordering a new set of wheels from Rose Bikes and looking to get some new brake blocks to go along with them as part of general maintenance I'm carrying out. I'm unsure what type to get to match my brakes though. There's no model number on the callipers. The bike is a giant FCR 2.5 with Shimano ST-R221 levers. Can't find any spec online that would help me out. Any advice much appreciated.

Kool stop salmon 7.50 a pair from Rose. Just change the pads over. Order them at the same time as the wheels to avoid extra postage costs. You will not find them any cheaper than this.

Cheers for the quick reply. I notice it says they are suitable for every type of rim and they look a little different to current blocks. Is that ok? Or would I be better to get some that are closer to my current ones?

    No worries. They'll suit fine.

Thanks for the help, just ordered them. Finally getting new wheels following a crash last October leaving me with two wobbly wheels.

So the blocks arrived. Totally not the right type as there's no way to mount them to the calipers.

what exactly did you order? pads only or the pads and holders?

if just the pads, remove the current pad and the holder it is in. slide pad out of the holder, slide in new pad(can need a bit of force). There is a right way to put them in direction wise.

Do you see that little grub screw on the brake block?. Loosen that with allen key, then slide out old pad. You might need to use a flat head screw driver to push it out. Be careful that you push it in the correct direction. While you're at it, give those callipers a bit of a clean and mind your hand with the screw driver.

They look like brake blocks not the cartridge and pad type or at least I don't see a grub screw. Looks to be part of the mould you're seeing.

Are they not mounted upside down/back to front? They're directional op

Yeah, that's what I thought. The Koolstop BMX pads might fit them. Fit my cantis anyway.
