GNIB card up to six months

Advice to all whom still possesses a stamp 4EU family GNIB card!
Our renewal application to change it for "long term GNIB card" was sent in March.
Every time I send them asking where our application stands they will return and say it "could takes up to six months" for our application to be processed.
I did a simple math of how many if only "ONE single person work" full time 8 hours per day / 20 days a week with average 1 application review per hour. Either approve/reject/pending/incomplete or whatever reason. This means 8hoursX5daysX4weeksX6months= 960 application and I'm sure the immigration office doesn't have 1 admin to process these so we estimate is 10 officer that mean 9600 if I'm the very last one of the 9600 in queue for it approval or any decision. Now why I'm so upset is:
1, we missed our anniversary trip to Sweden (March)
2, we missed celebration of my oldest daughters birthday trip (April)
3, we missed our friends wedding (May)
    4, we missed our youngest daughter's trip(June)
5, I missed the coming planned trip in July for summer holiday!!!!
I wasn't planning to attend all of them but NONE of these was possible due my wife couldn't travel with me-she have a temporarily GNIB card but it doesn't allow her to exit and re-entering the country. Myself is from Sweden and she is from China both our children have Irish passport which make me very sick of the time it takes to make an decision. I have been working here since 2005 and she been living here since 2008!!!!
MAKE SURE U RENEW 6 months before it expires otherwise u face a very painful waiting time!!!

    That's not how it works.

INIS employees are allocated specific days for specific activities. So for example, on Mondays and Wednesdays, they might be handling citizenship applications. On Tuesdays they might be working on working visas; on Thursdays, they might be handling 4EUFam applications and renewals, or citizenship ceremonies. Those are just examples. It isn't a case of one man with one pile of one particular type of applications. These things are bundled and processed systematically.

I just got in contact with Citizen Information they called and told me the answer they got from immigrants consul informed it could take 1 year depending of backlog - my god 1 year to process a application which been with them since 16/03/2015 with full paper and is the second renewal? I'm without words.
I got it confirmed by EU Treaty right officer decision date was appointed on the 18/09/2015 so they just moved the application another 6 months? Can someone please advice what to do next will it help if I complained for escalation?
    Cheers
    John
