Still looking for something newer and a bit more comfortable to replace my old Yaris. Ideally would spend 3-4k and have something I can keep for a few years.
Used for 10 mile each way daily commute on Dual Carriageway and a bit of popping around town. Occasionally used for longish drives around the country and this is where the Yaris really falls down, they are occasional but very uncomfortable.. 5 doors is nice for when the kids are in tow.

Found this on donedeal and thought it might be worth a look

Any alternative suggestions welcome (in Cork ish area though)

Why do you think you need a diesel car giving your type of driving? Diesel cars are not designed to be driving about town or on short runs. Contrary to popular belief diesels are not that frugal on short journeys either as they take longer to warm up than a petrol car. Diesels only become viable on long trips. Also the Colt is similar in size to the Yaris so it's going to be similar comfort wise. If you want something more comfortable then you need to look at the next size up like a Corolla.

A yaris is a better car in almost every way compared to a colt. If comfort is what your after get something bigger. The poster above mentioned a corolla, that would be a good option.

Not my Yaris any more!! Its 15 years old and noisy and I'm sick of it but have it 6 years having paid 2k for it and a total if 50 Euros in repairs (apart from servicing) so it owes me nothing. Fantastic little car..

I'm happy with a smallish car not worried about petrol or diesel really. Was also thinking about something like a swift or at least bigger than 1l small car or the next class up focus or corolla or similar.

Just stood in beside a different 07 Colt in a dealership (by chance) and yep it's smaller than I thought and a bit tinny looking. The search goes on.

Any ideas on what do look out for on a corolla?

Had a look at this tonight. Seemed pretty good. He said he has it for 1 1/2 years and before him someone had it for 5 years. Spotless inside and just a few small marks on the outside. Drove well.
Wasn't convinced on reason for sale though, just said didn't need it anymore as he only works 2 miles away, but he's been there for a while and might replace or with something else.

Will do a bit more research tonight and might make him an offer tomorrow.. What's it worth 3700ish??

Vehicle transaction status on motortax.ie says it hasn't changed hands or had a replacement log book requested in over 3 months. You should still run a history check and have a mechanic check it out. If it is genuine then I think you would be getting a good deal at anything under €4k. Those hatchback Corollas are well sought after and the Strata model has decent enough spec for a Corolla.
