Not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, but any advice on the following would be greatly appreciated!

It's my parents 40th wedding anniversary this weekend - we, as in my brothers and sisters, are taking them out for a fancy meal, but we are all agreed it would be nice to give them something as a gift also - nothing extravagant, but perhaps something approx 100 - 150 Euros between us.

Just wondering has anyone here given similar presents to parents, and what they went for, etc.

    Thanks folks!

It was our parent's 40th anniversary a few years back and we got an Irish Independent created with all the news stories from that day in 1971 but with a lead front page headline announcing their marriage. We accompanied it with an engraved plate marking the anniversary and also a family meal. The newspaper idea was a novelty gift but I think they really liked it as they would both be news junkies.

There are online shops that customize personalized newspapers for you. Not sure which one my sister used.

Writing as someone who may be roughly the same age as your parents. It is all about the family. it is very difficult to buy presents for our age group. We normally have everything we want, within reason of course.

They will be more than happy to see their immediate and extended family around them enjoying the day. Perhaps a couple of family photographs could be done and put into nice frames.
Keep it simple and have a great day.
(Flowers for your mother of course)

OP, since you're got this thread open in at least one other forum I'm closing this.
