Meath that is. For far too long these two warring factions have been divided.
It is it high time the wall was brought down and Ireland returned to 25 counties.

Westmeath and Eastmeath, living together in perfect harmony.
Of course, there will be naysayers, detractors - those who hate freedom.

The reunification of Meath should be a fundemental right for all Meath men women and children, they should have there own self determination and have there capital in Tara.they will then have to fight hard and long to get back there former towns such as ratoath and cloned, which have overtaken by a large group of planters from a foreign land.

Some said Tipp North Riding and Tipp South Riding would never merge but it happened.

A commission for reconciliation will be launched by our king of the North Michael Lowry and that yahoo from the south Mattie McGrath

I miss our TN reg plates :(

I've heard Westmeath is best Meath. Is this true? I've been in both many times and yet I'm unsure.

Will the new and more powerful Meath take back Clonee and free it from the immigrants from Dublin 15?

Those immigrants with a fondness of the colour blue just moved in and claimed it for themselves and they pay no allegiance to the Royal county, send them home I say!!

We should build a massive wall around both counties and let them fight it out. My money is on Big Joe Joyce to be the king of the Meaths.

    Yes, it is.

He is the king of all men.

That's good to know. Next time I see a group of lads around a chipper in Athboy at 3 a.m., I'll be sure to let them know it's been settled at last.

My old Dad often used to ask why Meath was playing in the Leinster championship, that's a province on it's own, not in Leinster he would insist!

It was a province on its own previously.

Bossman Ward says he has first claim on it, and anyone who thinks different knows where to find him.

I was just thinking this after westmeaths triumphant dismissal of meath in the leinster champo. Perhaps westmeath deserve the title "meath" now

I think a better arrangement is that Dublin takes over a crescent shaped chunk of Meath with Navan as its furthest point, We've pretty much settled and civilized most of that area anyway by now. The remainder of Meath and Westmeath gets lumped together to make their own way

I've often donated money to the telethon charity 'People in Meath.'

Pledge two euro to fund building a tall, electrified fence around the place.

Ireland has historically been divided into four provinces: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. The Irish word for this territorial division, cúige, literally meaning "fifth part", indicates that there were once five; the fifth province, Meath, was incorporated into Leinster, with parts going to Ulster. -Wikipedia

There's nothing more dangerous than armed men with Utopian dreams. This will end in a lot of innocent blood spilled.

Meath, the crowd that started the "never mind the white ball, bate into them" tactics in Gaelic football. Picked up by Ulster counties, now used by a greater or lesser extent by all...ironically as all the fight seems to have left Meath.

The Cavan footballers tried to re-create it in 1917. the below is from their wiki page

'Controversy was never far from Cavan in the early days of the Association.[citation needed] In 1917 they proposed a new province of Tara, comprising Meath, Louth, Westmeath, themselves and Longford, because of a series of disputes with the Ulster Council, and also tried to play in Connacht. They staged a famous rebellion before the 1930 Ulster final over the venue. Cavan official Barney Fay gathered up a rebel team, which lost the final, and Fay was suspended by his own County Board'

Don't give in Mick, be a proud northerner and never recognise Clonmel as the seat of power.

Is this thead by any chance setup by someone in Meath due to Westmeath beating them in the GAA this year?

And the lights shall shine again from the majestic TV towers of... Navan and Mullingar? Does Ireland even have TV towers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,642 ✭✭✭cml387

It would mean the destruction of the defensive citadel of Kinnegad ( designed that way to keep out Meath people) but I think certain sacrifices are worth making.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭CrabRevolution

We Meath folk dont want Westmeath anyway. It's not a real place hence it doesnt even have a real name, it's just west of somewhere else.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26,567 ✭✭✭✭Fratton Fred

Is West Meath a place? I thought it was just a derogatory name for people from Longford who behaved like people from Meath.
