Is it possible to take advantage of both the Taxsaver scheme for annual Dublin Bus / Luas AND the bike to work scheme from the same employer at the same time? Or do I have to make a choice.

    From the Revenue FAQ
Can I avail of both the Travel Pass/TaxSaver Commuter Ticket and Cycle to Work schemes?

Yes. These schemes are not mutually exclusive.

...another question on the same subject -saves opening a thread: is there any way a person can avail of the taxsaver or the bike-to-work scheme when their employer refuses to participate ?

Surely there must be a 'direct access' to these schemes which are supposed to be available to all taxpayers ??

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Unfortunately not - they are at the employer's discretion.

No, as it comes out of your wages so has to go through payroll. You could remind your employer of the savings they'll make - 10.75% saving on Employer's PRSI

...the employer in question has several thousand employees here, and refuses to participate in either scheme - many approaches over the years, to no avail.

    It's a travesty tbh.

Then wouldn't they be keen to pay less PRSI?

Some employers see administering the schemes as too much hassle unfortunately.

    Apparently not.

Yes that's it, esp for several thousand employees......

Multi-nationals where payroll is done from India (or wherever), aren't keen on anything that involves having to physically handle cards.

The admin can be outsourced to a third party, e.g., biketowork.ie . Multi nationals have to deal with all sorts of tax and other deductions and regulations that vary from country to country, it really shouldn't be an issue for any business with more than a couple of dozen employees. Given some employers' complaints about upward pressure on wages in recent times, it beggars belief that they would turn a blind eye to facilitating such benefits to staff.
