Check your Software Update. It’s a big one. 1.09GB for me and servers are being hammered with the launch of Apple Music.

iTunes 12.2 should be along shortly as well.

Will do it later tonight or in the morning. Hopefully all goes to plan with update.

I upgraded this evening, it's quick and painless.

Still can't seem to sign up to Apple Music though.

Yeah but it require iTunes 12.2, which has been delayed. You can still get on iOS 8.4.

    iTunes 12.2 is available now.

I had a pretty bad time installing it - first the App Store stopped responding, and then the combo updater failed. Left it for a few hours and all is good now. Glad they've put discoveryd back in!

Thanks for the heads up OP.
everything installed smoothly, apart from quite a loud beep tone after the (first) reboot.
iPhone updated to iOS 8.4 too.

Update running smoothly so far anyway.

STILL haven't been able to update. The App Store app opens, but just greys out and clicking on Updates does nothing, while clicking on Store in the menubar just activates the spinning beachball.

I've never liked that bloody OS X App Store app, it's never seemed to be stable and now it seems it's completely useless. I've tried force quitting, I've tried restarting.

Anyone else still having problems with updating or the evil App Store app?

did you try signing out and back into your Apple ID account?

No, never occurred to me. I'll give it a go when i get home and see what happens. I assumed it was a reflection of Apple's servers getting hammered...

No, then it would just take forever to download.

I'm not anymore, but did. Try restarting. I left it for a while and then it worked. Failing that, have a look for the combo update.

    I'm getting the same :(
Trying on a MBP 2015. Tried restarting, shutting down, signing out and back in. No joy though.

    Anyone any ideas ?

Anyone else having issues with constant fan noise after the update? My Mac Mini sits under the TV idling most of the time. It used to be silent unless being used for heavy tasks. Now the fan is running constantly even with nothing running.

It could be Spotlight indexing. Or it could be a rogue background process that doesn’t like the new OS. Open Activity Monitor and look under the CPU tab. The battery menu will also tell you if an app is using a lot of CPU.

Got it working in the end. A process called softwareupdated was using all the CPU so I force quit that and it worked shortly after. Installed fine then.

Activity monitor does not show anything out of the ordinary. How can I tell if Spotlight is still indexing? Was going to shut it down overnight but might just let go and check it in the morning.

There would be a progress bar when you click on the Spotlight menu.

Huh, turns out my hard disk needed to be repaired. Finally able to download and install 10.10.4 and iTunes 12.2. My long App Store app nightmare is over (for now). Funny how your laptop can be running perfectly well (or so it seems), but lurking somewhere is a corrupt file or something that doesn't seem to have any effect until you try to update your OS and then things come crashing down all around you...

Can anyone tell me where I can download the .dmg file?
I want to do a fresh install.

The update worked perfectly from the Mac app store, but I'd prefer to just start fresh.

    Hi Terry,
I could be wrong, but this looks like it :)

    https://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/os-x-yosemite/id915041082?mt=12

Edit* (it will bring you to the apple store download link 5.6 Gb)
