Waiting To Be Called For Interview

Going slightly insane sitting here thinking I'm going to be called for interview, applied for a job over a week ago but the lady who is recruiting took holidays and she's finally back tomorrow. When I found out she was gone I trawled the web for alternative e-mail addresses to send my CV to where I found two to send it to just so I don't end up out of the running if you get me.

It paid off and I got an e-mail back from another lady last Friday then to say she was shortlisting candidates over the weekend and said she'll be in touch at that stage. I e-mailed her yesterday afternoon to sort of follow up and attached a touched up CV and a touched up cover letter and stated my keen interest in the position, I've been told by recruitment folk that it's always good to follow up so I did.

Still no reply from her, have no patience with this lark, it's the not knowing is what's killing me, I have her mobile phone number here but I don't want to be an over eager pest.

I'd like to think I would have been called yesterday if she was shortlisting people at the weekend.

Maybe they are waiting for that other lady to return from holidays, the position is still advertised anyway. I live at home and both my folks are on my case over it, literally hovering over the phone telling it to ring at this stage.

How do people cope with the waiting game eh??

Forget about it is the easiest and probably best way to cope. Apply for the job and in this case you were lucky your application was even acknowledged. Recruitment in my experience tends to be very slow and drawn out generally, so ringing and emailing her won't do you any favours. Apply for other jobs and take your mind off it.

Just as I posted the thread I get an e-mail in saying can I come for interview on Friday, just confirming a time now.

Thank Christ, would really love to get this one!
