Hot water tap in kitchen only runs hot for a few seconds...?

    Hi -
    hoping someone might be able to help. My mixer hot water tap in the kitchen only runs hot for a few seconds, before going cold. There's an (immersion?) switch under the sink that is switched on, but that's about all I can figure out here.
    If I go back to it a few minutes later, the same thing will happen again. Any ideas why it does this?

    The hot water (separate taps) in the bathroom does not give hot water at all. I assume these are connected. The shower does give me hot water, but that's an electric shower with a separate immersion switch.
