    I'm looking at a car and a van tomorrow in Ballymount. My mechanic is in coolock and won't leave the garage that far to look at the car. Does anyone know any decent mechanics that would be around tomorrow to have a look at them?

    Thanks

    its a dealer, so even if they dont give you a warranty, you are protected by sale of good and services act. so dont see why a mechanic is necessary

    dont suppose its that alfa romeo for 2k? ive my eye on that

    Your having a laugh? Any dealer that is selling a car to the public without a warranty is doing so for a good reason and you most certainly do need to have a mechanic inspect it. As for The Sale of Good act, it's great in theory but in reality it can be a battle getting any sort of satisfactory outcome that doesn't involve hassle. For the sake of a few quid and avoiding aggro later on either get the car checked out or buy from a proper dealer.

    There are main dealers that have a few older second hand cars for sale but a mechanic is always a good idea.

    are you guys main dealers trying to promote yourselfs?

    the dealer doesnt want the agro either and will make sure the vehicle -

    is of merchantable quality;
    as described; and
    fit for purpose.

    you just want to make sure that you bring it back within a week or 2 if there are any problems.

    Lol, nothing to do with the motor trade in any shape or form, just using common sense and real world knowledge.

    Some of these establishments are run by slippery characters well used to flirting with the laws and exploiting loopholes. As I said best of luck getting into a drawn out frustrating battle with them before the courts and when you do get a judgement against them, you will be left wondering was it every worth it. As for not wanting the aggro, these guys will be set up next week trading under a different name in a different location.

    I dunno if you actually believe that or are winding us up.
