This would have worked after 9pm but with it on at lunchtime it simply won't due to the need to keep it clean, terrible scheduling.

Well putting it at nine or afterwards would take an hour off jenny Greene and that isn't happening.

Every Saturday in July, live from The Sugar Club in Dublin.

The live Saturday show will see Tommy interview guests before an audience, with the added twist that he won't know their identity before they walk on stage.

    Should be interesting!

Reminds me of Richard Whiteley's Television Chatshow, which had the same idea although it wasn't live.

A few years back, he did a stage show where he interviewed guests without knowing in advance who was going to turn up. A TV version subsequently appeared as Richard Whiteley Unbriefed, finally (though briefly) fulfilling his lifelong ambition of having his own show on the BBC.

Could be a good show for Tommy Tiernan, nice to see something different.

I liked his show with Hector (I didn't like the solo work of Hector;s mind) when it was on years back on IRadio. Very entertaining

Alright so far, although perhaps better on TV than on radio.

Richard Whiteley's guests didn't tell him who they were, it was a bit like What's my line? at times!

It's not bad, Tommy and the GAA player got on well. There's a lot to be for spontaneous questions. The trouble with these type of short run shows is that most people who would like it don't know it's on.

Cheap to test on radio and see will it transfer to tv.

I'd hate to be a newcomer trying to break into radio now. It's all about "comedians" now it seems. PJ Gallagher, Neil Delamare and now this....

Honestly who are you likely to listen to, a famous person with a new show or a nobody.

I'm not saying its right but celebs sell !

People would be more likely to tune in to a celeb once or twice, but you need a good DJ to keep the listeners tuning in.

But this is a interview we are talking about and not a dj ! But i do agree with your point !

Tommy and Neil have both produced documentaries and are intelligent interviewers who have proven their credentials.

They are also quick witted and can add an interesting twist to interviews that straight DJs don't, Tubridy for example

I didn't say they were incapable of doing the job.

Heard some of Tommy on the Off the Ball show on a Saturday recently and I quite enjoyed it.

I also liked the Hector & Tommy show a few years back (think it was 2fm Saturday mornings) and enjoyed when both of them were on together, though it probably helped being familiar with Navan back in the day. Both of them had busy schedules at the time so sometimes Hector would be in the studio from Spain or Tommy in Montreal and they worked very well but not so much on their own so will be interested to see how Tommy gets on.

Will go root out the podcast, I think this is the first time I have listened to 2fm since Tommy's last show so they have succeeded in drawing one extra listener at least
