Most of the retailers - power city, harvey norman etc have Miele vacuums on offer until July 1st. Miele are running a trade in (PC told me to drop up the other one when I get a chance) cash back offer and the retailers have taken that off the price. I picked the C3 allergy up in power city for €259.95 earlier - so €100 off :)

    Nice timing

But Miele don't seem to do a bagless version according to the filters on the Power City site.

Also why are they so much dearer than say a VAX for example?

I think I remember reading on here before from someone who was a builder who basically had experience of all makes in extreme conditions (not sure his customers new this), he and a number of others said they were the best they've come across.

    Agreed on their quality.

Just an FYI - Best to remember, that although they work in such conditions, hoovering up such things as sawdust/wall plaster after drilling, will do damage to the vacuum. Also voids your warranty with the retailer! (even if used after domestic DIY works)

Unless it specifically states that it's for trade use that is!

Wasn't interested in the C2 myself but the same price everywhere as it's an older model.

That C3 in Argos is the second cheapest of the 9 C3 models and cheaper in power city @ €204.95 - http://www.powercity.ie/?par=40-50-C3POWER

We've had Dysons, Nilfisk and Vax in the past and the Miele we have now is by far the best.. Far better than the 2 dysons we previously had. We use it daily for a montessori school. Well worth the money.

Will check out power city for the C2 as in the market for a vacuum and all the Argos ones are gone....thanks

In my entire time in my family home (20 years) I think we had two of these, and the second is still running. We have a big house (7 of us) we hoover a lot and we've never been afraid to use it to clean up diy. They're an amazing machine.

Got the C2 today in power city, seems great was only €126.95 so even little bit cheaper than Argos who are out of stock..Great reviews on Amazon about em

They're great, I have one myself, but the bagless models have stolen a march on them, as you don't have ongoing cost of buying & replacing bags (Vax/Dyson etc).

    That's my problem with them.
Yeah they seem to be a great vacuum but going back to bags isn't very appealing.

Miele all day long, I have a C2 compact and the suction is unbelievable 1600W, there is no messing around with cleaning bagless Hoover's just pop a new bag in with no loss of suction.

    Take out the tub
    Empty it in the bin
    Replace tub

Still don't see the attraction of going back to bags but maybe that's just me

What about taking it apart cleaning the filter etc regardless pop in a new bag and away you go no nasty smells and awesome suction Tbh I didn't think Hoover's were this powerful based on past experience.

My broken vacuum is a Philips bag-less one but presume they're all the same.

    There's no taking it apart.
You open a catch, out comes the tub, empty it & replace tub.

As for filters you give them a quick rinse under the tap every 6 months if they're lucky. They dry in an hour.

    No nasty smells.
    Suction unaffected.

We had a Vax bagless and it broke our hearts. Now we have a few cats but it was endless tub and filter emptying. It had one filter that I swear had to be cleaned every time we wanted to use the hoover and another that was nearly as often.

We actually got the upgraded model after that and it had one less filter but was still hopeless.

Replaced that with a Dyson that was on sale and I have to say its very good. Very easy to move around with and I do find hoovering easier with it.

Bagless vacuum cleaners can't compete with the traditional ones in terms of suction. You trade cleaning power for convenience/cost savings of not having to buy new bags. Depending on your cleaning needs that might not be an issue.

Miele are a bit more expensive than other brands but they are one of the best. Head-and-shoulders above the likes of Dyson.

(Source: own a Miele and read an AMA by a vacuum repair man on Reddit :) )

Just pulled the trigger on the C2 from DID electrical for €129 plus €6 delivery. Very happy with that price.

+1 for Miele. That's after coming from 2 dysons. Yes the bags are relatively expensive, but they really fill right up and weight a ton when need changing (i.e., you'll get a long time from a bag)

I find we only need to replace the bag about every 3 months, so 10 euro a year for bags is not bad.

I have the S8310 (I think this is the model), and its very very quiet too.

Suction definitely more powerful than dyson.

I find the filters in the newer dysons tend to clog quicker unlike the old plain foam ones, and they definitely take a good few hours to dry out properly.

On Miele, the high bag forms part of the filtering process, so taking pressure off the main filter.

You do get a new filter too with each box of 4 bags.

I have a Miele, it's good although the power and "cable retrieve" buttons keep getting hit by the power cable as I move around the house, very annoying.

My next vacuum cleaner will be cordless, can't frickin wait for this one to die (although being a Miele that could be a while)

What are the best cordless ones out there? Bosch? Miele?

    What model is yours?

    2200W S8 .. got it in Powercity for 169.99 in 2013

I'd say the "button hitting" problem is common on most of the standard corded vacuums though. They're pretty awkward to lug around with one hand, while holding the tube with the other, so a cordless solves this problem (albeit with a shorter running time before it has to be recharged of course)

Picked up the c2 yesterday in DID. Very happy with it
