    Hi
What should I look for in a 2 yr old petrol astra engine. I saw one for sale with 45k mls. Running and sounds fine . Body clean. Service history ok. But the Bolts corroded / rusted. Oil spill down left hand side of dipstick. Told it was spilled when garage was changing the oil. It looked a bit grubby overall to be honest. Garage and owner has a good name. 3 month warranty offered.

Sorry i'm a complete novice to this. Getting a mechanic to check it next week but in meantime was wondering if anyone could advise. Can't post a pic yet.

    Thanks

I thought the same.i have a 1.4 golf which isnt exactly powerful.but the opel 1.4 makes it look good.probably a heavy car.make sure you test drive it in mixed driving. Maybe the later years have a different engine.

Its 100bhp which isnt too bad. It drives fine. Its just the engine looks like its 10 yrs old.

That's light saying a kick in the head is not as bad as a kick in the balls.

The Astra was also available with a 1.4 litre turbo engine, they are rare, most of them sold were the 3 door GTC but the one to go for.
