    Hi
What should I look for in an engine of a 2 yr old petrol astra ex rental. I was looking at one for sale in small garage . To be honest it looked bit grubby but runs and sounds fine . 45k mls. Body clean. Service history ok. Bolts corroded/rusted. Oil 'spilled' down the left hand side of dipstick. Could it be a leak. 3 month warranty offered. Garage has a good name.

Sorry i'm a complete novice. Getting a mechanic to check it next week but in meantime was wondering if anyone could advise. Sorry can't post a pic yet

    Thanks

They are woefully underpowered and due to the heavy weight of the astra give mediocre fuel economy.

They have chocolate gearboxes that I would avoid, especially if it has been a rental all its life.
