Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good value apartment or hotel for 2 adults in and around Alghero preferably near a beach for Sept or Oct

Hi pjproby. We stayed in Sardinia last year the around the second last weekend in May. I found when booking that the accommodation in Alghero town was fairly expensive, so we booked Hotel Sa Cheya Relais http://www.hotelsacheyarelais.it/en/. Its out the road a bit so you would need to rent a car, but if you want to see Sardinia, I would definately recommend renting one, if you can.
Saying that, the time that you are looking to go would not be peak season, so the hotels may be a bit cheaper in town. There is a good stretch of beach from the Old Town all the way to Fertilia. I would recommend somewhere Via Lido https://www.google.ie/maps/@40.5767367,8.3133557,16z?hl=en further out from the Old Town, as the closer you are to the Old Town, the more expensive. Also, south of the Old Town along Lungomare Dante, you should find some nice hotels withing walking distance of the town.

Hope ye enjoy the trip. I proposed to my Fiancee on a clifftop called Capo Caccia out the road from Alghero. The views are amazing. The nightlife is fairly quiet there, but its a welcome change!
