Anyone using this with a four satellite position Multiswitch?
Anyone using it for Saorsat + Freesat using 2 x Diseqc or a Multiswitch?

I figured out how the Foxsat secret Diseqc menu instructions apply:
    1) select Non-Freesat mode first, then Settings menu again
    2) Go to Non-Freesat icon on settings menu
    3) Before rescanning, Highlight transponder
    4) R G Y B G Y B buttons
    5) Option for Fixed Dish (no motor option), can't be changed ... select Next
    6) Now you get a Disqec port menu and list of satellites. But stupidly only names, not position.

But on initial install wizard it spends ages looking for a signal then says Signal found Diseqc Port A (which is correct). Then the rest of install wizard fails due to no signal, but after Postcode entry the Menu button works and Non-Freesat Diseqc modes work to add all the UK channels on Port A (28.2E), German etc on Port B, Others Port C, D etc in turn.

So I took it to a twin feed with no Diseqc and did Factory Reset and Install Wizard worked. Back on my own multiswitch Freesat mode still worked.
But no method of telling it to use Port A (by default after power up, Port A is selected anyway).
So I added Non-Freesat A, B, C, D satellites. If you switch back to Freesat after port B, C or D there is no signal, unless external power is cycled. So to go back you need to type a 28.2 channel number first.

Issues for Non-Freesat mode: (unless I've misunderstood it)
Seems to have no Recording, live rewind or pause
No DVB EPG (on every €20 generic box!)
No list of stations, only type channel number (starts 5000)
    No Favourites
No edit / delete unwanted channels? Only Scan?

Do any Foxsat HDR SW alternatives or plugins work?

Presumably it's some stupid Xenophobic Cultural Ghetto attitude of the Freesat consortium that is behind this.
What about Continental Europeans in UK Apartment blocks with multi-sat distribution systems?
What if a UK regional TV station wanted to use a UK spot on Ka-Sat.

It's worse than Sky's Broken "Other Channels".

Both systems (Sky and Freesat) are a disgrace for a country in the EU?
There is no extra royalty and less than a weeks programming to have Non-Freesat (or Non-Sky) work as well as the cheapest generic sat boxes and on same channel list, also to have alternate DVB EPG appear by menu and if on a non-Freesat (or Non-Sky) channel, with recording working.

In the case of Freesat boxes, most of the makers have non-Freesat models that work fine so there isn't actually any extra software needed. Just some GUI integration.

Can the Humax HDR1010S / HDR1000S be improved by some download or am I holding it wrong?

Obviously the Humax HDR1010S / HDR1000S install wizard is trying to setup Diseqc automatically. This is moronic as it's essentially a one way protocol (the only sensible use is manual settings) and also anyone setting up a distribution system puts Sky/Freesat/28.2E on port A, as then Sky boxes and non-Diseqc Freesat boxes just work (I've tested Sagecom Freesat HD, Sky HD PVR and 3 generations of SD sky boxes).
The Network setup is idiotic too. The only way to switch LAN ethernet cable vs WiFi seems to be a Factory Reset and answer Wizard questions.

The Manual really only tells about recording features. No explanation really of how to change anything. By designing the box to be used by idiots with no manual changes after Wizard, they have crippled the product.

    Thoughts?
    Solutions?

Is there really no non-Freesat station list / edit?
Why does it detect Freesat is on Port A at start of Wizard install (on a four port multiswitch) but then have no signal?

    Hi Watty

I dont have one but some dude *Raydon* over on avforums wrote a load of streaming software for this box that gives you root access so you can use telnet etc. It also gives you a web interface for editing etc.

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/media-file-server-bundle-for-the-foxsat-hdr-release-4-part-5.1829374/

Your question seems to be answered at #686

Those guys might be able to help you. There seems to be a good hummy hacking community.

I saw the Raydon stuff ages ago, have older versions saved.

But I got lost trying to figure if it applied to the model we have. I certainly can't experiment till tennis is over, and not risk "bricking".

I have my own non-PVR generic HD box and 2 x DVB-S2 sat cards with DVBviewer and MHEG5 plugin. The Humax is for wife, the only non-Freesat channel of interest to her is Eurosport DE.

    Thanks,

    I don't see any mention of HDR1010S, in #686
    https://www.avforums.com/threads/media-file-server-bundle-for-the-foxsat-hdr-release-4-0.1747997/page-23#post-19547630

That post is about a motor (you need TWO motorised dishes for a real PVR). I'm using it on a Multiswitch, and problem is that if you do a Factory Reset it does detect Freesat is Diseqc port A, but then can't find a signal at Wizard time.

I got round it by factory Reset and Wizard on someone else's ordinary dual feed.

    Re earlier post:
I have found is that if you have manually set the Foxsat to a fixed IP, then reset the foxsat when it cannot reach the DNS you specify then most of the time it automatically falls back to requesting a DHCP IP address.

I'd set up my Router (which runs OpenWrt) to always give same IP via DHCP to same Mac Address.

Raydon's firmware is definitely not for the HDR-1000S/1010S. The box is completey locked down ( I believe at Freesat's request) and it is highly unlikely that any third party firmware will ever be available for it.

I can't help with your Diseqc query watty but the non-Freesat mode is indeed terrible and seems to be an afterthought.

The Foxsat-hdr and HDR-Fox T2 are not the same as HDR1010S or HDR1000S

The Freesat consortium are idiots. It's not like it's subscription TV or Subscription box. My PC can record ANYTHING that FTA.

Apologies I saw Humax, Freesat and Twin LNB and presumed a Foxsat HDR.

    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/tuning-into-a-second-satellite

Seems they have nobbled the OS according to the author of pre mentioned software. Humax Definition File (HDF) on the 1020S is encrypted.

I have only ever had two Humax boxes, both DVB-T and Humax were excellent with giving me the engineering menus.

Anyone wanting Saorsat (or Serious Continental TV) as well as Freesat needs an old Foxsat HDR.

I couldn't find them (Actual Foxsat) for sale, but the HDR1010S 1T PVR was good value and shipped "free" overnight from Portarlington.

I hope you didn't read all 687 posts for my sake :)

A few key quoted terms in the googlemachine Watty. I am not that devoted to trying to help people :) I was curious whether it was hacked.

With the proliferation of E2 boxes now that pull down the OpenEPg data OTA/or Rytec data online for multiple EPGs combined with Autobouquets which mimic TP changes seamlessly there is no reason to be tied to proprietary OS's anymore.

I believe the HDR1010S and HDR1000S run Linux. The problem isn't the OS or Humax, but the stupid attempt at anti-competitiveness of Freesat organisation and their desire that if a channel wants to be watched it has to pay inflated EPG costs. Sky of course charges as much as Carriage for EPG, something that costs Sky nearly nothing, Broadcasters pay for the bandwdith and supply the automatically carouselled XML files.

Ofcom is a useless regulator, no better than Comreg. They only want a level playing field for big corporations and income. They don't care about small companies or consumer.

    Sorry about rant...

(My wife wants reliable BBC Interactive too, MHEG5 isn't that hard, but DVBviewer isn't 100% with BBC, it's fine with the RTE Interactive via USB DVB-T.)
