hello wondering would it be ok to install osb plywood to the inside studwork of a dormer ,thinking it would be a good idea for sound insulation , or do you think its overkill thanks for replys
,I know dormers can be cold and noisy , live near a main road , so just installing the plywood on the dormer section

    Hi Ken,

I suggest getting some proper advice.

Dormors are noisy and cold as they are more difficult to make airtight. You know Airtightness that thing you don't want to do as you want fresh air as per your other thread.

You are prob going to end up with a house that doesn't meet regs and that costs 3000 + per year to heat and one that is cold in the winter and too hot in the summer!

Ok thanks. Well got icynene spray foam between rafters and they sprayed the dormer stud work as well . I was going to install osb ply on inside the dormer section for noise. Thinking of even putting plywood on back of knee walls as well.

I don't know enough to comment on your strategy. All I can say is with out proper advice you may simply be wasting money. Google "sound proofing Ireland" or similar and you can find some specialist websites. You can research there or maybe contact them to see what they suggest. This maybe a starting point for you.
