Ultra-portable laptop with 15" screen (or closest to it?) for Visual Studio dev

    Looking for a laptop that is light/small enough to take on commute to work, but powerful enough to run a few sessions of Visual Studio and a local copy of SQL Server (for development purposes).

    So I'm guessing an i5 chip, with 128GB RAM or more.

    15" screen would be preferable as I may not have access to an external monitor and I need to be able to see the code clearly.

    I know the screens on the surface are only 12" but would a Surface 3 be powerful enough if I decide I can work with that size screen?

    Max budget around €2K.

    You wont get 128GB of ram in anything smaller than a mATX desktop. Do you mean 12GB? Or are you confusing solid state storage with RAM?

    whoops brainfart, yeah meant 128GB SSD.

    Was looking at this at the time ;)

    But I guess 4GB ram would be absolute min as I could be running a few instances of VS at one time.

    If I have to sacrifice the 15" screen size in order to get the lighter machine, recommend anything to surpass the Surface Pro?

    I love the Yogas but they're slightly underpowered compared to the SP3. Y3Pro roughly equates to a 3rd gen i5, where as the SP3 is offered with beefier 5th gen i5s and i7s.

    Right so surface might be the way to go if I find I have external monitors available.

    Where's the cheapest place to source these at the moment?

    Also I'd need one of the keyboards/covers.
