AutoMatic Car required for 6'2" Person.

Hi, I suffer from osteoarthritis, am 6'2" in height, so I am looking for An Automatic - An economical car with low rd tax, diseal r petrol with a bit of poke. Size is important for comfort - given my height need something in Mondeo/Avensys/Audi A4/6 / Merc E200 BMW5Series, size range.

Appreciate your recommendations & reasons for same. Cannot afford New - so pls also list Mechanical items to look out for etc.

How much can you afford?

I think you should consider SUVs in your search as the extra height on the seats relative to the floor is a good thing.

im 6ft 5 . i know where your coming from . the best saloon car is going to be the like of a mondeo or a skoda superb

avoid audi or bmw as while they are good cars they are quite low to the ground and if you have osteoarthritis you will feel it hoising yourself out of them .

buit really you should probably conside a crossover or an SUV
maybe the likes of
Nissan Quasquai
Honda CRV
Mazda CX-5
Bmw X1
Bmw X3
Nissan Juke
Kia Sportage
Landrover Freelander


there are bigger suvs but they would be costly on fuel and tax

Yeah I drove Opel Zafiras for 14 yrs - I changed 2 a Ford Focus last yr - my daughter passed her test & didn't want to drive d Zafira - a bus as she refers to it.
So now I ave to pull myself out of the ford focus.
Left leg (d 1 with the arthritis) is knackered from clutching if I drive over an hour.
Yeah as said the BMW 5Series is low to the ground.
Maybe the SUV is d way 2 go - Any opinions on Automatics in this category ?

You still haven't told us what budget you have.

I reckon €10 - €12K ish.
Also meant to say the Zafiras I drove were all 1.6 petrol. Urban driving , so only got 23-25MPG. Car tax would b a big issue. I only do round 6,500 miles per annum.

if your only doing that little milage you should possibly consider a petrol though as youll never make up the difference in initial cost .
