As part of the rider requested by team Kanye for tonight's gig, the following demands have been made in order for Kanye to grace Glastonbury with his presence..

(Feel free to add what you've heard)

Kanye has insisted that the voyager 1 deep space probe be recalled to Earth to have a copy of his performance included with the material already on board the probe. The probe may then continue its voyage back into deep space.

Kanye has also insisted that all stray cats in Somerset be rounded up and allowed to watch tonight's performance in a local cinema.

All references to Kim as the hobbit are banned.

In all seriousness I'm looking forward to his performance.

I read somewhere that he wants only the brown M&Ms in the bowl, nothing else. Between him and Van Halen, it all evens out nicely.

I knew he sampled King Crimson (21st Century Schizoid Man), didn't know that he sampled Foreigner (Cold As Ice) too. Coincidence? One of the founders of Foreigner, Ian McDonald, was a member of the original King Crimson that made 21st Century Schizoid Man.

Watching Kanye there, all I can think of is how hot he must be, with all those Par41 lamps just over his head ... :o

Would Power count? He did that first, I think.

Now he's singing, with the AutoTune cranked up to 11. Samples from Strange Fruit. Do Not Want.

I'm sure it's all because Kanye is an eejit, but often times the crazy stipulations in riders, such as brown m'n'ms are to ensure that the venue manager (or whoever else) read all legal documents, riders, and contracts that would be associated with hosting a concert in full. If they miss the stipulation, it would show this wasn't the case.

I believe he's had a limited edition white M&M's commissioned just so he could have them all removed from his jar of M&M's!

That makes no sense. You would only find out when you get to the dressing room. A bit late then.

Well I would imagine there would be a clause in there to say that if it's discovered that there's any part of the contract that's broken, then they've made it null and void, so the gig gets cancelled. I'll see if I can find more info about it.

    Yawn. Worst headline act ever

    Yup -
The presence of even a single brown M&M in th}at bowl, rumor had it, was sufficient legal cause for Van Halen to peremptorily cancel a scheduled appearance without advance notice (and usually an excuse for them to go on a destructive rampage as well).

The legendary "no brown M&Ms" contract clause was indeed real, but the purported motivation for it was not. The M&Ms provision was included in Van Halen's contracts not as an act of caprice, but because it served a practical purpose: to provide a simple way of determining whether the technical specifications of the contract had been thoroughly read and complied with.

I don't know much about Kanye, and thought I might learn what the big deal was. I made it to the point where he said "we're only halfway through", and couldn't face any more. Based on what I saw, what he does is orders of magnitude below the artists he was sampling. The Billie Holliday song Strange Fruit, for example, is an icon of the US Civil Rights movement, describing crimes against humanity; and Kanye gets to drivel all over it? Nope.

The guy's a hack. Lighting was quite old-skool, though.

Kanye West says that he will be the next Nelson Mandela,

Personally I support his desire to spend 27 years in prison.
