    Lads,

I am wondering what doses/vaccinations do ye recommend for weaned calves 4 months old on grass apart from worm, blackleg, fluke?

IBR vaccine. We use Rispoval intranasal but there is another one called Bovipast

If they are bucket fed I would not do much more than fluke worms and blackleg.

Not with bucket fed calves such as Friesans, AAX, HEX, LMX not sure about bucket fed BBX or CHX but imagine that they are much the same.

No offence Puds but it depends on where the calves/weanlings come from.
If from one source (off a single farm) than less risk. However if from a mart or dealer then the risk is escalated.
We always IBR vaccinate young stock on arrival. Only costs about 2.50 a head.

Just on a point of information. Despite the name (Rispoval was originally an IBR vaccine, now it's a family of vaccines), there is no IBR component in Rispoval Intranasal...

    Rispoval RS+PI3 Intranasal

    Uses

For active immunisation of maternally derived antibody positive or negative calves from 9 days of age against BRSV and PI3V, to reduce the mean titre and duration of excretion of both viruses.

Onset of immunity: 5 days for BRSV and 10 days for PI3V after a single vaccination.

Duration of protective immunity: 12 weeks following a single dose.

    Bovipast RSP

The combination vaccine Bovilis Bovipast RSP was specifically created to help protect against some of the most harmful pathogens encountered in UK calf pneumonia:
    Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica
    RSV – Respiratory Syncytial Virus
    PI3 – Parainfluenza 3 Virus

Bovilis Bovipast RSP was the first – and remains the only – vaccine to combine protection against both bacteria and viruses.

The vet said there is no need to do them with IBR vaccine, they only needed a antibiotic for a cough.

He said you should only do them for IBR if you had a problem with it in the past.
