Driveshaft/gear box?

    01 ford galaxy, was having problems with driveshaft, replaced whole driveshaft, very next morning after driveshaft was replaced,there was a loud grinding noise coming from under the car, and it was severely pulling to the left,it was very hard to control. Brought it back to mechanic and he said it was gearbox although having no trouble changing gears or it wasn't sticking.was told not to drive it. So left it sitting for a few days while we located a gearbox, took it for a drive the other day and since then there is no noise and no pulling, car is running completely different now.
    Any ideas? Will me gearbox go (I've got a new one) was it the driveshaft again? I'm stumped and just don't know what to do with the car anymore
