Hello, I'm having a nightmare with anxiety, just wondering if its possible to check yourself in or have I got to go through the whole emergency room crap first. I'm really not in the mood for explaining for the umpteenth time to some egit what's wrong with me. Doesn't help that I'm physically shaking here in fear and feeling really depressed. I've stayed in elm mount before if that helps at all.

You have to go through a&e unfortunately. Are you registered with your local community mental health team? If you are there's always a nurse on call at weekends, so you could give them a ring and they might be able to meet you and help you through some of the worst of it until you can see a psych during the week. You can get a direct referral from your consultant then if they feel you need to go inpatient (you don't need to go through a&e then).

If you are really feeling in a bad way, get yourself to a&e. I know it's so **** having to sit there for hours and then explaining to nurse, a&e doctor and on-call psych how you're feeling. But if you're not sure whether you can cope or keep yourself safe, that's what you might need to do. Hope things get better for you soon.
