E53 is a better built car IMO. I know peopl that have owned the E70 and have cursed the amount of money that they consume.

I've only had an E53 so can't first hand comment on E70 ownership but I nearly pulled the trigger once or twice.

ive owned plenty of bmws over the years 3/5/6 series but never owned an X . is it much different to drive than a 5 series .

    It's like a bigger E39.
It handles well but I have the V8 Sport.

Put it this way, it's no sports car but in a straight line it was DC2 integra R quick and goes around bends better than any ML, RR I've had.

I think the looks of the E53 have dated really quickly, it reminds me of an old Transit van. And I would go for drive before I bought one, I suffered motion sickness as a front seat passenger on rural roads, when I mentioned it to the driver he confirmed same as a passenger.
