Well something fairly trendy then, not trousers and a shirt

Did you check what the staff there wear? If not then do that and copy it

I worked in next. The lads all wore suit trousers, a shirt & tie. Only senior sales consultants wear a jacket. You should enjoy it - I liked the rotation during shifts: front cover, fitting rooms, tills, shoes etc - breaks the day up nicely. Good luck :)

Have a look at nextdirectory.ie and see what they define as smart casual themselves.

Just a word of advice - Next are VERY customer service focused and it will go in your favour if you don't hold back from approaching customers and asking if they need help ;) hope it goes well for you

Trial went well but only got offered a temp position for the sale, could you give me some detail as to what this involves? And how many hours I could get? Thank you!

Well done on being offered the job - you never know what it might lead to! I was temp and got kept on after Xmas so just work hard and show you are keen to progress. It was my favourite job in retail! I don't know what your hours will be like as I don't know the staffing situation but you could get up to around 15 hrs a week. You should check with the manager before accepting the position.

Thanks it was all very rushed so I couldn't ask much but when I'm doing the induction I'll ask more, i don't see a point in buying clothes for just 2 weeks so should black vans, black jeans and a white oxford shirt do?

That should be ok, as a lot of your work will be outside of business hours (pre-sale work is hectic but fun) you'll be given sections to label & price. Ok maybe not fun but certainly busy! Then during the actual sale it will be CRAZY. People have no manners - they just grab & pull & chuck stuff in any old place. You will have to tidy up after those lovely peeps.

Sounds like a fun time haha hoping I get offered some extra hours after the sale, but it seems like there hiring so many extra staff for the sale

Just be proactive and always be busy. You'll be watched by the store manager, department manager & senior sales consultants during your time there so make sure you stand out. It will be apparent who's in it just for extra cash, and they are the people who won't be asked to stay on :)
