hi , i am about to service a friends 2012 audi a1 1.6 tdi. i have done loads of different older pd diesel engines filters but this is my first common rail diesel and i just wonder is it similar? are they self bleeding or is there some kind of primer? by the way i haven't actually seen the engine in question yet that is why i ask if there is a primer.thank you.

similar engine to a Golf 1.6 2010 we had and there ain't no primer. i left it to the garage as did not want to be faffing about with unknown unknowns.
last time i opened what i thought was a bleed screw on my S40 i had a world of trouble.
you would need at the least a primer bulb of your own before going at the job.

The a4 requires electronic priming via vag com software so this may the same. Have done my fuel filter using a replica chinese vag com which worked great
