reconstructed tooth chipping

Hey, looking for any advice if anyone can offer it. Six years ago I took a topple on a footpath and smashed my two front top teeth. They were cracked but still live and viable, so my dentist removed the cracked part (the centre bottom quarter of one tooth) and reconstructed the tooth using white filling. The other night I gave myself a whack in the teeth with a cup, and now I can definitely feel the reconstructed part broke away from the tooth in the front, but feels the same (secure) on the back.

I have a severe dental phobia so can only get work done under sedation or general anaesthetic. I am on the waiting list for the dental hospital to have extensive work done under either or, but in the meantime, is there anything I can do for the tooth to try to keep the patchwork in place? I brush my teeth a few times daily to try to stop decay setting in to the area.

    Thanks.

chances are that the filling could be replaced without any anaesthetic. see what your dentist says.
