Driving test Finglas on Monday

Hi guys ! To start off, just wanted to let everybody know that I am very very very nervous about the test. I originally thought that you get 4 weeks notice from when the date is provided, but got it in my e-mail a couple of days ago, so I would say a little less than 1 week notice.
I have been driving ( have my own car ) with a sponsor next to me, and have had the 12+ EDT with my ADI, but I am still worried, and make a lot of mistakes when I am nervous.
Got a couple of questions for you, sorry for the long post :).
First question is, what do you do, or did, before your test to get rid of the nerves ? Got any technique that could work ?
Second question, this is because my ADI said something and my sponsor something else, for road ramps, what gear do you use ? My sponsor told me to slow down, go to 2nd gear and pass, then back to 3rd and 4th gradually, while my ADI said that if they are small enough I can just slow down in 3rd and then go back gradually to 4th. How would a tester mark me in this situation, because I do not think its my call if they are small enough to just slow down in 3rd or go to 2nd.
Also, for people that live in or around Finglas/Glasnevin, how is the traffic there usually on Mondays at around 10 AM , and other potential hazards at that time ( like kids running on the street ) ?

Thank you in advance for all your feedback !

Edit: Hope on Monday to post in the Successful thread :D

Have my first driving test next week myself after a 10 week wait for a date after completing my 12 lessons too, a little bit nervous but the practice I put in with my sponsor over the last few weeks made a big difference to my confidence to be honest.

For ramps I was told by my instructor to drop down to 2nd gear no matter how big our small the ramp is for the test even though you could go over them in 3rd no bother with a lot of them.

Good luck with you test anyway!

Thanks CYHSN ! Good luck on your test also, hope we both post in the Successful thread after the test !

Did my first N drive at night with my sponsor just now ( my sponsor is all about driving everywhere except for motorways, saying that I will be able to gain confidence for a motorway after getting the full permit if I drive on N's and dual-carrigeways, and will gain a lot of confidence by taking care in the city center also ). A real confidence booster to be honest. Strange how one ADI says something and another ADI something else. I've been passing ramps using 2nd, hope if I do this in the test I won't get marked on progression ( I believe that is how the speed part is named ).

Ramps are very much dependent on speed you are doing some will be second and others will be third, on the Jamestown road which is the one come out onto when you leave the industrial estate the ramps are designed so you can go about 40-50 over them.

As for kids most will still be in school and teenagers will be in bed so no need to worry about them, no particular hazards other then if you turn right out the gate more than likely you will be turning down a very narrow turn so take it in second maybe even first, good luck.

Thank you guys ! Unfortunately I have failed the test, just barely. I've applied again and choose the cancellation list option. Does anybody know how long does that usually take ? The people over the phone said that they can't do anything until they get my results, is that true ?

It will probably be about 4 weeks. Hard luck.

Thanks for the info, but 4 weeks :O:O ? What is the difference between being on the cancellation list and on the regular list then, since counting down from the date I originally booked the first test, and got the actually take the test was 5 weeks. Only 1 week difference just doesn't make sense, at least for me.

I'm just thinking of paying again for a different test center, and just cancel the one I booked for Finglas to get my money back if it is gonna be do that long.

It may be quicker but finglas for a normal test date takes between 8-10 weeks, they usually try and give you at least 10 days notice of your test, somebody could cancel Friday and you could get 2 days notice, it all depends.

Tell them you'll take any of the Dublin test centres, you'll get the cancellation much quicker.

Thanks for the tips, I called them and told them that I need to get my license by the 11th of July, so will take any center that they may have. Unlucky me I guess, since they said no available dates so far for July in any center.
