Beading leads to water marks? Anything to reduce this?

    Hi all,

    Background:
Black car, washed with 2BM. "Waxed" by hand using Meguiars Ulimate Liquid wax. Topped up with a quick wax, actually gone of the market but still have some left over - turtle wax Speed Wax
Both work fine, go on easy, don't leave residues on the masses of plastic trim on a Mini. I'm open to suggestions of other products but nothing that is going to take significantly more effort than these!

    Problem:
Lately the beading after a light rain has been leaving a LOT of marks afterwards which are very obvious on the black paint. We are probably in the wind path of a cement factory or Aughinish alumna depending on the wind. Or maybe it's just normal atmospheric dust. Not much we can do to fix that. Comes off easy enough but you just end up excessively washing the car that doesn't get that dirty other wise.

Is this something that just has to be suffered if you want a shiney waxed black car? Anything that can be done apart from renting a house with a carport/garage:)?

There is a lot of dust in the air lately; have noticed that on my own. The dry weather contributes to that also. Might remember some of the bad Sahara dusting we suffered a few years back.

Even when there is little dust in the air, you will always suffer a certain amount of water spotting...just the contaminants in the rain too.

For regular water spotting, if the car isn't dirty, a quick going over with a quick detailer and a microfiber will sort that, but if there's a lot of dust settled on the car, it will do light damage, and a light wash is advised.

Light wash it is I think. The hassle of owning a black car!
Haven't been using the meguiars that long, was wondering if that was contributing to it, said I'd consult the experts.

No, any product you apply shouldn't contribute to making it worse, nor is there anything to help easy it.

Provided it's only a light dusting or spotting, a snowfoam (if you've a lance) and a quick once over with a mitt (no buckets needed) and a rinse down and dry would have it looking it's best again....though it's the hassle of getting everything set up for that quick wash!

I have a karcher "foam" lance for my karcher k2. LOL.
Might be worth a shot - is there any snow foam that will produce foam from one of them AND be wax safe?
I usually only use it if it has been a while since the last wash and it will be getting a fresh coat of wax anyway.

Although the 'lance' may not be the best, it will probably get you by! ;)
Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is very good!

Have this problem myself. Has become particularly bad over the past few weeks. Can't wait to get out and get it washed tomorrow!

Thank you OP for asking this question, I'm suffering from the same issue myself, dust, watermarks from rain etc. Let's wash our baby tomorrow and enjoy the shine and reflection for few hours! :)

I had that problem yesterday when washing. I got quite warm after I started and the bodywork was drying out too quickly. It was a race to dry the car off!

Got my wash finished just as the rain came. Will be interesting to see what's left behind afterwards.

What lsp have you got on there?
Beads don't look great to be honest. Sorry to say.

    But on topic.
Both cars here are constantly covered in a sandy dusty film recently.

There is nothing on it at the minute. Only got it snow foam, tar-x, iron-x on it as the rain came. I really need a garage or something because whenever I get a day to do it it ends up raining. I will get out again tomorrow and finish it off

    ah.
I knew they looked a bit sloppy :D

Forget the garage as the be all and end all of detailing needs.
Do it panel at a time and you will get there.

I have no garage and do all my detailing on the street.
I dont even have a driveway.

People drive into our drive way too fast throwing up the dust - rightly pisses me off after washing the car! Dust settles and then it rains and leaves spots :( But there must have been something in the rain in the past week because all my windows are spotty now too!

Went out on Sunday to finish off my car and the dust was as bad as it had been before I'd washed it. Probably doesn't help living a couple of kilometres from a quarry and cement plant.

Washed/dried/quickwaxed the black car Friday. Gleaming Saturday. Mottled with dust/water marks already. Grrrrr!

I park in a underground car park and it's quite dusty there. Really annoying.
