The Irish Water contractor painted a red "R" on the reinstated concrete around my newly fitted water meter.

Why was that done?  What does it signify?  I am registered.

I see that it was done in just 2 other houses in the estate.

    - Thank you

I believe it means your house was marked for demolition.

I have a red circle painted outside my house. I have no meter and I'm not registered. Its no where near where a meter would be placed either.

It might have nothing to do with water, it might be some other council or utility activity.

Often it is the contractors initials or some other code being used by the contractor, council or utility, e.g. "R" for "repair".
