Are there many non drinking players and mentors in gaa ???. I heard Davy Fitz doesnt drink alcohol

Many intercounty players go off the wagon totally when there season is over, about 95% gaa players go to college so there would be the pressures of the alcohol consuming there.

I always wonder do minor players get to drink at social events eg All ireland winners party etc. Most of them would be under 18 but a few drinks would not hurt them

I would assume it would be the same % as non GAA players and mentors?

There is a very common misperception that the GAA has a big drinking culture which is incorrect, Ireland has a big drunk culture full stop!

Whether they drink or not is none of our business.

Hate all this crap about so and so was on the piss, just because they were seen in the pub two weeks before a game, or god forbid they have a few drinks to celebrate a victory. It's nothing more than petty gossip.

Seems to me like a stick used by supporters to beat their own team with.

Most lads I knew who played at a high level drank little or no alcohol during the season,
They pick their times to blow off steam

In limerick for years there used to be rumours of this fella and that fella drunk in the weeks leading up to championship. Only the lads starting the rumours didnt realise the fellas supposedly drunk never drank in the on or off season.
