Im driving a transit connect at the moment but need a bigger van for work now. I like the look of the vavario, traffic and nissan vans but have been hearing mixed reviews about them so thought id ask on here. Have even been thinking about a transit swb as someone mentioned this will use same amount of juice as the connect seeing as they both have same axle on them.

Max ill be spending is about 3k and looking something in good nic.
Any recommendations on whats decent, not to hard on the juice and something i wont be fixing up every month or so.

Mk6 transit at that money. Easier and more economical to repair. Just give it the usual rust check. Some of them have different ratio axles in rwd configuration leading to different driving experience. If not towing get a fwd. Best of luck. Hiace is another option but hard on juice

For 3k vans you have to treat all makes with suspicion. Most vans aren't owner operated so they get a tough life. You could have a complete dog of a transit sitting beside a perfect opel/Nissan one. Don't go by brands go look at the vans.

You say dont go by brands but ive been nearing that them vavarios are heavy on juice and gear boxes arent to great. Love the look of them TBH but would hate to buy one and put more money into her and spending to much on juice.
    Hiace

    Read above ;)

Are you talking 3 grand including your connect or 3 grand cash and what you get for your connect -

Is a Scudo / dispatch too small ?
If you don't do much milage or spend a lot of time in the van get a hi-ace they're a dog on fuel and not massively comfortable but they are tough .

My brother in law has one of them from new and he puts nothing in the back bar some light boxes and does sod all mileage v's a transit for the same money which has most likely been used by 10 different drivers hauling who knows what. Which would be the better van?

In the €3k range of van's, and cars, there are a lot of dogs and at that vintage condition is more important than a badge.

Does your bro in law think their heavy on the juice like the hiaces?

Never asked as I've no interest in fuel consumption. All that I'm saying is that in the price range you are looking you can't rule anything out or in as everything in the range you are looking is a gamble, so a clean van which is a bit thirsty could be cheaper than a more fuel efficient one during your ownership.

Scudo/Dispatch/Expert are a good van. Sliding doors on both sides, barn doors at the back and good strong frugal engines.

    Hiace.

Had a 01 Hiace with the old 2.4 engine. Unbreakable. Used 10 l/100km mixed between city and country runs. Also very easy to sell on, even if it fails the DOE as they are sought for export.
I know loads of people who have had them, and if they are OK size wise then you won't get better than them. They'll have the cheaper running costs over 2-3 years when you take repairs and residual value into account.
