Ok lads kinda lost with this one and making no ground whatsoever, even a call to swansea has me more confused as I dont think the girl knew herself

A family member bought a car from NI couple weeks ago with full intentions of vrting it and taking it over, car dealer registered car as exported as ROI address given when buying the car which is fine, car was taken in for inspection and given the vrt price and the days to pay it etc

Now they have been offered a new job and they are going to move to NI and will be taking the car with them so want to register themselves as the owner to their new norther address only there dosent seem to be a simple way to do so

Anyone know the right procedure for this?

    Cheers

If the inspection has been done, then you'll have a piece of paper with the new ROI licence plate number. If this is the case, then you need to import the vehicle back in to the UK and apply for a new UK registration.

The DVLA now thinks the car has left the UK so it expects it not to appear on the roads again bearing the UK registration that it used to have.

It must be a spectacular car to go through the hassle of importing it twice...

just bring it back, mot it and send off the form to get a replacement log book.

No the inspection was just a 2 min check that the vin numbers matched there wasnt any reg given, just a price and the days left to pay, car in question is a 2014 bmw 3 series, it was never the intention to have to re import just needs must job wise for them

If you don't have a reg number then its not an irish car yet.

Ring the DVLA, and tell them you want a new log book as the export was cancelled.

Think i will do this for them again tomorrow as the car defo wasnt issued a reg yet, although swansea said its down as exported thats all they know but hopefully just as simple as registering it to the new address and having the log book re issued
