Leaving job/own house

    Hi,

I am looking for some advice. Both myself and my husband own property - bought when told if you don't buy now, you will never own a house - so renting a house at the moment.

However, the house if being sold and we have to move into a much smaller house for more rent. We have 3 kids so it is utterly depressing what's out there.

My husband has been offered a 1 year contract in his hometown. (its the other end of the country 3 and a half hours away from current location) Also, his brother built a lovely house about 5 years ago and he will never live in it, so we could rent it until we save the deposit and move kids to local school.

However, I am an accountant on 52k per year so think I would be made to leave my job. We pay about 12k on childcare at the moment so if I took time off, that would be a saving. I would commute mon - thurs and do one day working from home.

Would we be mad to uproot just to have our own house? Any thoughts?

I don't really understand your problem despite reading your post three times.

You say you could lose your job but yet commute?
