    Hi,
i just bought a canon 10-18mm lens and want to buy the cokin nd grad filter kit to use with it. I have seen it mentioned that that you need to buy a different holder for wide angle lenses, i have no experience of filters and i have been looking at these holders but im not 100% sure im looking at the right ones, also i see some are a fiver and some are up to £45(for a piece of plastic!!!) so dont know if i should stick with the expensive ones. Could someone who owns this lens let me know what cokin series and holder i should go with? any advice greatly appreciated

I have the Cokin P wide angle holder, which I use for a 20mm and which doesn't vignette. I assume you're using a cropped sensor so it might do the job. It only has one rail for holding filters so it barely protrudes. And yes, Cokin filter holders are stupidly overpriced IMO, and really badly made. I got an actual Cokin brand hood for it as well and I had to dremel some corners off the holder to make it fit. This didn't fill me with confidence.

The hood will vignette badly on a wideangle BTW, or at least does on my 20mm, I bought it for general use, not for use on the wideangle.
