He supported Robert Fisk in an interview with a representative of the US/K/N government in which Fisk suggested that the motives of Bin Laden/ Al Queda were more about the Palestine situation than otherwise suggested.

Simple reason. Today FM started charging listeners texts at a premium rate. Dunphy did not approve.

I thought he left to do a late late type show on TV3. Which was brutal coz he was interviewing his buddies and basically kissing there a$$. He is much better commenting on things. Like why the irish football manager should be fired because we don't play like the 82 Brazil team.

    No that was Newstalk,

Last time I listened to the Ray Darcy show on Today FM they were inviting people to text in feedback on a 53xxx number which to my knowledge is a premium number that costs about 30c per text.

Similar programs on RTE radio use a 51xxx number which incurs the standard charge though for most people it comes out of their monthly bundle and costs them noting extra. That's excluding the competition numbers (57xxx) where the cost is explicitly stated by the DJ.

The short code for today fm is charged at standard rate, but doesn't come from bundled texts. Think they went to shortcode so they when they changed mobile provider they didn't have to change txt number prefix e.g. 087 for Vodafone etc
