Hotpoint WT 741 PROBLEM

    Hi,
I have a hotpoint WT741 washing machine and code F05 is flashing. This usually means the machine has a drainage blockage however I took filter out and cleaned out coins, etc. I then replaced filter and same thing happens, drum still half full of water.
I took pump ot and cleaned and although it pumped a small amount of water F05 flashed again and cycle stopped half way through.
I have now changed the pump and replaced with another one but same is happening.

Any ideas what problem could be??????????

Would there be a blockage (a sock or something) in the pipe that connects drum to the pump?

    Byte,
No blockage there or on pipe from pump to waste to outside of house.

take off the emptying hose off the pump and hold it upright with pump end nearest the floor, drop something like a big nail into it and it should push whatever is blocking it out the bottom end, most likely a coin

I took hose off pump completely and can blow through no problem.
I took hose off pump that goes to drum and can blow through no problem either. Still showing F05 fault.
Hardly unlucky enough to have two faulty pumps. lol

ok, with the filter removed set the machine to drain and look into the body of the pump and see if the pump impellar is rotating, if it is go back and remove the waste hose like I told you , blowing through it wont tell you if there is a partial blockage, you need to drop something heavy down inside the hose and out the other end to be sure its clear

Think I have eventually solved the problem. Colour catchers were blocking at white ball in drainage pipe at drum. Cleared that and done what you said with both drainage pipes but no blockage yet when machine would come to cycle with 8 minutes left F-05 still came up.

As I said I changed pump with one from another hotpoint machine I had. I took both out and studied them, both exact same housine, etc but then I noticed one was 25w (original from machine) and one from old machine 30w. Although both working perfect its obvious the slight different wattage was causing a problem because I had one more last go before going to buy a new machine and put 25w one back on and machine is going perfect now. fingers crossed.

I had also changed pressure switch from old machine but immediately flashed F-10 fault so I immediately ruled out pressure switch.

Thanks Red Ace for all suggestions.

Good to hear you got it sorted, blockages need thorough investigation otherwise the module times out and error codes appear, when using dye catchers I always advise to pin the dye catcher with a safety pin onto something larger item in the drum, it shoudnt happen but the problem arises because there is too much of a gap between the gasket and the drum .

Yep, similar issue happened to me when I was looking at a friend's Zanussi machine.

Had did the usual checking of hose either side of pump and was going to give up, but decided for the heck of it, that I'd check the pipe at the drum end. Sure enough, there was a small sock stuck at that ball thing (what is that for?) at the top of the hose.

He still has the same machine, one he was resigned to dumping thinking it was knackered.

the purpose of the ball is that when water enters the drum/tub it lifts upwards and seals the tub, to prevent the detergent floating downwards to the sump hose etc
