Good Dog Collar and Lead

getting a labrador pup in 4 weeks , she's only 4 weeks old at the min

im looking to get a good lead and collar for an 8 week old lab , looking to train it aswell

any suggestions

on the collar and lead if there is an army surplus store near you pop in as most have a bargain bucket section which have lots of Trixie brand collar, leads and harnesses for a five a piece.

For a pup it may be useful to have harness when training on lead as less like to damage its windpipe.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about what type of collar/lead you get at this stage, she'll outgrow it in no time. For a pup I prefer walking them on a harness personally, collars are too easy for them to back out of when they get a scaredy moment.

I'd recommend a perfect fit harness (with front attachment) - it's 3 seperate pieces so you just swap out pieces as they grow instead of buying a few harnesses - eg for my retriever girl I had to get a bigger belly strap but the other two pieces lasted until until she ready to move up to the thicker/adult dog size.

Corrected the typo in my post - it's a perfect fit harness I meant - http://www.dog-games-shop.co.uk/perfect-fit-fleece-dog-harness.html Don't spend too much on a collar because she'll grow out of it. Mr Price is good if you're ever in Blanch or Coolock and often have Rogz stuff - the same collars were €20 in MaxiZoo and €5 there! I got Rogz leads there for €6.99 and they were €30 online!
