    I'm sure sanding will come into the solution so I would just like to point out that I do have an angle grinder....probably be too fast for something like this though? :confused:

    I would advise hand sanding with a sanding block. Start at 80 or 100 grit and move up towards 320 or wherever you feel is good enough. Shouldn't take too long, it's not a particularly wide piece of timber.

    Danger, particularly with a grinder, is that you'll chip a tile, and that will a) look bad and b) maybe fly in the ol' eye.
