Have a Malone topper and has done the job well but was thinking of changing. Maybe Up grade a small bit for flail topper. Can any one tell me cons and pros. Land would be rough enough and more than the odd stone. Have no intension in spending more than 1500 with my Own which might be worth a few hundred been very generous.

Flail topper or mower are good, especially for rough ground. It mulches everything and it rots down pretty quick, regrowth does be pretty good too. Only downside is that its alot slower, and heavier on diesel. Size of the mower depends on your tractor too, mine is a 2.3m and the tractor is 100hp even at that it struggles at times on really heavy grass/rushes

Not if you shop around. I got a 2013 major mj24 230. Picked it up at a auction for 2k the rotor was slightly off balance so I got that balanced for €150. Spotless machine otherwise. Dont be in a rush and you will find something.

Don't be in a rush and you will find something.
