What is thinking behind a 12 hour marathon of dinosaur djs every saturday and sunday ? Who are the youth supposed to listen to at the weekends ?

    Spin? iRadio?

The weekend's the only time I'd listen to 2FM at all now.

Probably trying to get them to leave but don't want to pay the redundancy.

I wouldn't exactly consider Stephen Byrne, Lottie Ryan, Ruth Scott or Paddy McKenna as dinosaurs unless you're still in nappies.
I wouldn't consider them as decent Djs either but that wasn't the point you were making.

Obviously the original poster was talking about Colm Hayes, Dave Fanning, Larry Gogan, Will Leahy and Mr spring

Calling the managemant of Lyric FM!!!

Time to complete the rape and destruction of the so-called arts and Classical/specialist music network with some of the aforementioned clowns.

They can join Marty Whelan and John Kelly on the station to do and play whatever the fack they like.

Not obvious at all when a 12 hour marathon was mentioned.

You can add Ruth Scott to that list if it includes Will Leahy

There's no problem them being on at the wekend, if they only played decent music from the 70's, 80's, early 90's...just like it was up until last year!

Would you classify Mr. Spring as a dinosaur? As far as I know, he started getting involved in the dance scene in the late '80s or early '90s. He was a participant in dance music, (e.g. The Sound Crowd,) a producer, an engineer, joint owner of a record label (Red Records) and a dance pirate deejay (Tim Hannigan) in the '90s - much of them in partnership with Mark Kavanagh. He would have to be considerably younger than Dave Fanning or, for that matter, Colm Hayes - never mind Larry Gogan!

Well, it depends on what kind of radio station 2fm are trying to be. If they are trying to be a BBC Radio 1, then as others have said, even Ruth Scott would be too old for it at this stage. but i don't think RTE have a clue what to do with 2fm, they change their mind about what age group to target every couple of years.

i'd imagine they don't have the freedom to do that any more unfortunately

Aye, was just going to post about Annie Nightingale! Radio 1 also has Scott Mills on weekdays, who is in his 40s. And he'll be taking over breakfast for a bit when Grimmy goes on leave for X Factor (although I defo see Scott being moved off weekdays in the next year or so). The difference with Radio 1 is that it has a clear demographic, and sticks to producing programming for it.

2FM needs to properly focus on a particular demographic, instead of doing this weird half-and-half thing that they're doing at the minute.
