Fying into ZAV next wednesday and have 8 hours to get to Char for next flight, thinking of going into Brussels City for a bit so allowing 2 hours travel in and 2 hours travel out.

4 hours drinking in a pub with 3000 beers alledgley.

Anyone done this, looks easy enough.

It'll be easy. I lived in Charleroi for a while so have done all this before.

20 mins into Brussels around 45 to Charleroi and 10 to the airport from there (bus leaves directly outside train station).

Delirium cafe is your best shout for a good range of beers and decent atmosphere.

Thats exactly where we plan to go, thinking of taking the taxi route into Brussels then bus to Char.

Public transport faster and way cheaper into Brussels.
Train is faster to Charles the King.

Cant seem to find a train from Zav to Centraal ?*which is 500m away from delirium) :D

Would be very handy if we could use that station for both trains.

There is a train from Zavantem airport to the centre and it stops in Gare du Nord, Centraal and Midi (Zuid) runs every 15 mins roughly and takes around 30 min.
You need to search for Brussels Airport or Brussels National Airport on the Belgian rail site. Confused me the first time I got the train with this as destination, thought I was on train going to some national airfield or internal airport!

There definitely is one. I've been on it three times this year.

I think you can get a bus from Brussels Midi to Charleroi Airport but if it was me I'd take the train from Centraal to Charleroi Sud and bus from there.

Found it, the train website wanted specific words.

Not even a tenner each way.

Brilliant 8 or 9 hours in Belgium, would love to head out to that area on a Friday or Saturday night rather than 11am on Wednesday :)

Cheers for the help all trains got us exactly where we needed to be.
