Hey everyone, i got my fetac results on Monday and got 7 distinctions and 1 merit in communications. I'm pretty sure i need 8 distinctions for the university course i want. I was thinking of appealing the merit i got even though im not sure i deserve the distinction haha! Has anyone appealed and been moved up or down even? Also how do they re check your communications work when Most of it wasnt written.
    Thanks everyone :)

Presumably the bits that weren't written were visually recorded?

The process for rechecking is exactly the same as for the external moderator; someone goes over the work, looks at the marks you were given by the teacher, and decides if he or she marked fairly.

I don't know what the percentages are of changing up or down. All I know that a couple of my students have appealed their Communications over the past few years, and no results have been changed. Still, if it's important for you, it's probably worth a try. Do you know how close to a merit you were? If it was anywhere near the eighty mark, you might have a chance. If the merit was under seventy, forget it!

Thanks for the reply! I emailed my teacher asking for my percentage but he never got back to me so i didnt appeal! Just really hoping now that i get in with the 7 distinctions! :(

In fairness to your teacher, he is not in a position to give you such information at this stage. He has marked it, it has been assessed and submitted to FETAC, and it would be highly unprofessional of him to engage with you at this stage.

Plus he's on his holidays... Probably doesn't go near his work e-mail. I certainly don't :)

just wondering if your applying for nursing? i've appealed 3 of my subjects and it cost me 120 euro. i feel a bit scammed now because i was told the appealed results will be available in september AFTER i had paid.. so it completely compromises my cao offers..
